5 Things I Wish I did SOONER When Starting my Business

#1 – Process

I now have TONS of amazing processes and templates for everything and it saves me SO MUCH time and effort. Processes allow me to repeat success every time and capitalize on what works. They also let me get stuff done FAST! I live off of process now.

#2 – List Building

I wish I had started my email list sooner!!! Email is the best way to connect with people and fill your funnel. Building an active and engaged audience wasn’t often a priority, and I wish I had done a better job of this sooner. Email and word-of-mouth are two of the best ways to drive sales… you can’t afford to ignore them.

#3 – Think Impact (still)

This is still on my list and something I strive for every day. Focus on what matters. Spend time/effort where the impact is. It is so easy to get caught up on something that is more fun, or to overthink something that doesn’t really matter anyways. Focus on impact. spend time and energy where you will get the biggest benefit.

#4 – Find Great People

Finding great people isn’t easy. They say you become more like the 5 people you spend the most time with – and you spend A LOT of time with the people you work with. So find great people and keep them close. I often get so caught up in work and performance that people are an afterthought (possibly the curse of an entrepreneur). I’ve had the pleasure of working with many great people – but they haven’t always  been a priority.

#5 – Network Better

I do love people and socializing, but I’m not a very strategic networker. I used to be great at this. When I got started I challenged myself more. Meet 5 new people at this event. Find 1 solid lead. Ask one question in every session. I also need to develop and nurture my existing relationships better – I’m lucky enough to know some great people, but I don’t touch base with them often enough to keep the relationship relevant and fresh.
